Participation Grade

You have 3 options to raise your participation grade.


  • Director Research (Can do 1 time per quarter)
    • Choose a director that has directed at least 5 well-known Hollywood Movies. (Note: you cannot choose the same director as someone else in your group or a friend.)
    • Research the director online using sites like IMDB.com and Wikipedia.com.
    • Answer all the questions on the worksheet.
    • Turn in the worksheet to Mr. Nottingham
    • Grading: up to 5 participation points

Final Cut Pro Skill Training Video (Can do 1 time per quarter)


  • Turn in a Google Doc essay (Can do 1 of each prompt per quarter)
    • On a Google Doc write a 250-500 word essay addressing one of the prompts below.
      • Why is framing an important aspect of filmmaking?
      • Name a movie that you enjoy that you believe is a great example of filmmaking.  What makes it so?
      • What do you enjoy about being in the Digital Film Production class?
      • What do you think are the most important factors in making an excellent movie and why?
      • If you were to have a career in filmmaking, what job would you want and why?
    • Share the Google Doc with Mr. Nottingham
    • Grading: up to 2 participation points per essay

Register for and attend the Industry Chat session listed below on Wednesday, May 6 – Using Google Docs, take notes answering all the key questions that are listed on the chat session’s page. Make sure to include the name of the event that you watched. What was your favorite question/answer that was asked of the speaker at the end?

  • This assignment is worth 5 points extra credit in the participation category.
