Film Script

A script is a written work for a film. The movement, actions, expression and dialogues of the characters are included. Scripts are written in a very specific manner. They include the following components:

Scene Heading (Slugline): Gives a brief description of the setting. Has 3 parts.

      • INT. or EXT. depending on whether it happens inside or outside.
      • The actual location.
      • The time of day. Day or Night

Examples:

      • INT. CLASSROOM -DAY
      • EXT. DISNEYLAND -NIGHT

Actions: Actions are the things that you see. What will you be seeing on the screen? Don’t TELL me what is going on, SHOW me what is going on.

Character Name: The name of someone who is saying words.

Dialog: The words that are being said. Do not use Quotation Marks or say Said or Says.

Parenthetical: Short description of how something is to be said.

Scripts are in a very specific format. Everything needs to be aligned perfect.
