RamTV Podcasts extend our campus news coverage beyond daily broadcast clips, giving student storytellers a platform for long-form, deep-dive audio and video conversations. Whether covering sports, the visual and performing arts, or student culture, podcasts allow student crews to highlight diverse voices across Ramona High School in an engaging, conversational format.

Core Podcasting Guidelines

Stay in Your Lane (Niche Discipline): Each podcast series operates under a distinct topic focus. A VAPA podcast covers visual/performing arts, theater, and music; a Sports podcast covers athletics, player profiles, and game analysis. Crews must maintain their show's specific focus and avoid mixing show concepts across assigned series.
Broad Appeal & Journalistic Balance: The podcast hosts should avoid taking extreme personal stances or alienating listeners on divisive topics. Keep discussions constructive, inclusive, and balanced so all students feel welcome in the audience. This doesn't apply to podcast guests, only the hosts.
Strict School Appropriateness: All podcast content, guest remarks, humor, and topics must adhere to RUSD behavior policies and RamTV editorial guidelines. Language must remain professional, respectful, and free of campus gossip or inappropriate references.
Pre-Interview Prep & Guest Vetting: Hosts must outline clear discussion guides and pre-interview guests before recording. Unvetted or unscheduled "surprise" guest drop-ins are strictly prohibited.
Audio & Licensing Standards: Maintain consistent mic technique, avoid talking over guests, and use only approved royalty-free music from Artlist.io for intro/outro tracks.

Podcast Crew Responsibilities

Podcast Producer

Show Planning & Scheduling: Manages the monthly publishing calendar, pitches episode concepts to the Executive Producer, and enforces production deadlines.
Guest Coordination: Books interview subjects (students, teachers, coaches, artists), conducts pre-interviews, and delivers approved discussion outlines to the host team.
Publishing & Quality Control: Conducts final QC checks on finished episode edits, drafts episode titles/descriptions, and submits finalized files for digital release.

Podcaster

On-Air Energy & Engagement: Drives the episode with active listening, clear vocal delivery, and thoughtful follow-up questions.
Topic Preparation: Researches guest backgrounds and topic details prior to taping to ensure natural, informed dialogue.
Set Discipline: Preps guests on studio rules before recording begins, enforces on-air decorum, and maintains an authentic, welcoming studio environment.

Podcast Technical Director

Studio & Gear Setup: Sets up multi-microphone audio inputs, frames multi-camera angles (for video podcasts), and conducts pre-show sound checks.
Live Recording & Level Monitoring: Monitors live audio through headphones during tapings, actively adjusting levels to eliminate background noise, pops, or clipping.
Post-Production Mixing: Edits raw multitrack recordings, balances vocal levels, trims dead air, and layers licensed intro/outro audio and visual graphics.
